About the Author
The Author: Aaron David Gresson III is Professor of Education and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University. He holds doctorates in both counseling psychology and educational administration, and has held several clinical and academic positions. Some of his most recent books are The Recovery of Race in America (1995) and Measured Lies: the Bell Curve Examined (edited with Joe L. Kincheloe and Shirley R. Steinberg, 1996).

This book is very underrated, and if read widely, will be a classic in the field! It should be a classic in rhetorical analysis of popular and public discourse concerning race. The metaphor of racial pain begins with the cover of the book and extends to analysis of Forest Gump to the Vietnam War Memorial.
